LA Times story on an interesting proposal to balance the City of Los Angeles budget and save 4,000 jobs.

Seems like an obvious idea. Unless your budget is already stretched, I don’t know many people who wouldn’t do this to save a co-worker from the street. But any cut in pay should come with an equivalent cutback in hours. What you’d lose in salary, you’d gain in quality of life.
